Having Giroud on the bench says a lot about our team depth – Wilshere
England midfielder, Jack Wilshere said having a striker as talented and in the class of Olivier Giroud on the bench at Arsenal is a great thing for Arsenal.
Olivier Giroud has seen limited minutes of action in the league so far this season as he is yet to start a premier league game after 16 rounds of matches. But Wilshere believes it’s a positive thing for Arsenal as it highlights their depth and quality.
The French striker who almost left the North London Club in the summer after the club record signing of countryman, Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon came on to score a late equalizer for the gunners in their lackluster display against Southampton. His 88th-minute goal brings him level with Manchester United former striker, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the highest number of goals scored from the bench in the premier league.
While speaking with Arsenal Official website, Jack Wilshere said “For me, I think it shows the depth in this squad, Olivier is definitely one of the best strikers who score lots of goals in the league when he’s on it and he’s on the bench here, so it shows what we’ve got”
“December is here and there will be plenty of fixtures, so I’m sure he will have his moment when he will finally start and if he’s coming on and scoring goals, that’s tremendous for the team and of course, it was an important goal for him”
